An institution committed to tackling major public health challenges
A major player in healthcare and education, located in Lausanne at the heart of the CHUV hospital complex, the Haute École de Santé Vaud (HESAV) trains more than 1,200 future healthcare professionals in its four bachelor's degree programs:
HESAV also offers a Preparatory Year in Health (APS), which provides access to HES-SO bachelor's degrees in the health field, as well as continuing education and postgraduate courses (CAS, short courses) for health professionals and HES graduates.
More than 140 teachers and assistants, most of whom have dual professional and academic expertise recognized at the national and international levels, provide high-quality teaching based on practical needs. HESAV's decades of experience in the health field is reflected in the numerous mandates and expert assignments entrusted to its faculty.
Its friendly and lively campus is equipped with practice and simulation rooms as well as fully equipped study laboratories, providing a professional environment that allows students to practice and develop practical skills in complete safety. HESAV also has access to the CHUV's facilities.
Practice-based research
As a driving force behind the evolution of the healthcare system, HESAV plays a central role in the field of research. Its Health Research Unit (URS) actively participates in improving professional practices and the quality of care through numerous research projects rooted in practice and focused on socio-health issues. Several of its research projects stem from and/or are funded by cantonal policies such as Veillir2030 or by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). HESAV's research projects focus on eight themes:
Population aging,
Mental health,
Chronic diseases,
Exercise, sport, and health,
Development and biotechnology,
Interprofessionality and practices,
Health services research,
Policies and legal framework.
New campus in 2026

This move will mark a new era for the institution, bringing together its four current Bachelor's programs andthe Occupational Therapy program, thus offering a modern and innovative training environment.
