Cantina Mendrisio – Società Cooperativa was founded in 1949 by a small group of winegrowers from the Mendrisiotto region. Today it boasts more than 200 members and operates the Tenuta Montalbano, one of Switzerland's largest single-vineyard red wine estates spanning approximately 25 hectares with around 125,000 vine plants. The winery produces Ticino DOC Merlot wines and Chardonnay-based sparkling wine 'Euforia'. The estate provides continuous data to Switzerland's leading oenology schools, Changins and Wädenswil, maintaining the oldest vineyard data history in Ticino.
