Our missions
The Cantonal Building Insurance and Prevention Agency (ECA JURA) has a threefold mission to protect the built heritage in our canton:
- Preventing damage: subsidizing preventive installations and measures; enforcing fire safety regulations; training municipal fire inspectors.
- Combating damage: financing fire protection, in particular equipment, materials, and training for firefighters.
- Insuring all buildings in the canton, both existing and under construction, against damage caused by fire and natural elements through a compulsory mutual insurance system. The real estate portfolio concerned represents nearly 37,000 insured buildings, with a total value of over CHF 23 billion.
