These syllables literally drip with wine. The red wines from the largest wine-growing community in the Upper Valais have been well known among wine connoisseurs for decades. The people of Salgesch understood early on how to link the name of their village with their products, thereby giving their red wine a distinctive identity. This trademark has allowed the wine village of Salgesch to flourish.

Salgesch lies on the linguistic border between Upper and Lower Valais. The natural linguistic border is formed by the small Raspille stream between Sierre and Salgesch, north of the Rhône.
