Atelier Kunterbunt

The theater is a place of new beginnings. We give performers space to try out new things using their bodies and language, emotions and imagination. We encourage them to trust their personal strengths and not to see weaknesses as obstacles. We treat all performers and course participants with openness and are interested in shared experiences. We practice and learn through play and as a team, because there is nothing more serious than play.

Children and young people are introduced to the world of theater in an age-appropriate way. Part of our concept is that they choose and develop their own roles. They speak improvisationally, even without a script. Self-confidence, social skills, and team spirit are actively promoted through theater.

Who we are

Atelier Kunterbunt sees itself as a workshop for theater, music, and art. We have been working with children and adults for over 20 years, offering a wide range of courses based on a theater education approach. What once began as a one-woman business is now a multi-faceted operation. In addition to the theater school and courses, we pass on our experience of working with children and young people to teachers in practice-oriented training courses.

In 2011, we created a professional environment for theater projects with the small theater Teatro Dalla Piazza in Dielsdorf. It serves as a rehearsal and performance venue for our own productions and guest performances. The location in Schneisingen is used as a rehearsal and course room.

The Förderverein Kinder- und Jugendtheater Kunterbunt(Kunterbunt Children's and Youth Theater Association) employs the course instructors and tenants of the rehearsal and performance spaces. It is financed without public subsidies, through course and ticket revenues, membership fees, sponsorship, and private donations. The association aims to promote youth work, organizes theater productions, and creates structures so that children and young people can perform theater.

Storytelling theater by Teatro Dalla Piazza

With a national reach, we are a family business with a professional background in theater and the arts, performing stories we have developed ourselves for young and old at schools and small theaters. Mirca Dalla Piazza Popp, Raffaella Popp, and Valeria Popp are supported as performers by Hans Peter Popp as sound and lighting technician.
