Weingut am Steinig Tisch is a third-generation family-run winery. Founded in 1970 by August Rutishauser, it was taken to professional heights by Christoph Rutishauser in 1981 and has been further developed by Roman Rutishauser since 2015.
A stone's throw from Altenrhein Airport: in the excellent locations of Buchberg, with its mild climate, expressive grapes thrive on extremely steep slopes with barren, clayey soil.
On 7 hectares of vineyards, we cultivate 8 different grape varieties in harmony with nature, through targeted promotion of biodiversity, sustainably and by hand.
In our wine cellar, we carefully vinify 14 different, first-class wines of the highest quality with passion and dedication. These include classics such as Riesling-Sylvaner and Violine, as well as internationally renowned varieties such as Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Noir. Our exclusive Kerner, which we were the first to cultivate in Switzerland in 1973, is widely known and appreciated.
The care of the vines determines the quality of the wines. In harmony with the vineyard habitat, we shape and perfect sun-ripened top quality in the wine cellar. The reflection of each individual vintage, the charisma and ideology of the winemaker make our wines unique.
We live our passion for wine with joy and enthusiasm. Consistency and authenticity are key elements of our wine philosophy.
Our wines have won multiple awards at national and international wine competitions. After being honored by Gault&Millau in 2019 as "Rookie of the Year," we were listed among the 150 best Swiss winemakers by Gault&Millau in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Now, the wine magazine VINUM has named us one of the 200 best wineries in Switzerland!
