SAH Bern | Bücherexpress Thun

Bücherexpress is an online second-hand bookshop with a wide range of (German-language) books: novels, (crime) thrillers, children’s books, young-adult books, non-fiction and specialist books on psychology, politics, art and much more. One special feature is the extensive ‘Du’ collection, with issues of this Swiss cultural magazine from 1942 to the present day.

You can either come and collect your order from our premises at Schlossmattstrasse 15 in Thun and pay for it there, or else have it delivered to you by post.

About us

Bücherexpress is a project run by the Swiss workers’ aid organisation SAH Bern for professional and social integration of welfare recipients and the unemployed. Participants gain practical experience through active involvement in all work processes pertaining to the online second-hand bookshop. This includes adding books to the electronic merchandise management system, managing the website and processing orders, right through to handover for delivery or dispatch. In this way, participants are given a chance to assess their capacity to work, develop career prospects and prepare for entering or re-entering the workforce.

Acceptance of book donations

We are happy to accept books that you no longer use. We prefer novels, (crime) thrillers, literature by Swiss authors, poetry, drama and comics. We do not accept foreign-language books, damaged books, general Duden dictionaries, or academic books that are more than 10 years old.
