The 100-year history of the Thurberg restaurant

The Thurberg estate has been family-owned since 1898, and the restaurant has been in existence since 1910.

In 1898, farmer Julius Häberlin acquired the Thurberg vineyard in Heimelachen. His son Ernst built the existing buildings with a restaurant, which opened in 1910.

In 1934, Franz and Olga Breitenmoser-Häberlin took over the estate. The Thurberg thus remained in the family.

From 1971, Hans-Rudi and Alice Breitenmoser-Hürliemann ran the house on Thurberg. In 1973, a beautiful hall was added on the west side and the terrace was renovated and expanded.

Since 1992, Daniel and Irene Franz-Breitenmoser have been running the restaurant, which they acquired in 1995.

The Thurberg is a worthwhile destination in every season. In winter, when fog covers the Thur Valley and bright sunshine shines on the Ottenberg. And especially in summer, when the view sweeps over vineyards, green meadows, and across to the Alpstein with the Säntis.

Our interior design offers you the opportunity to dine à la carte in a small group, enjoy a business lunch in a quiet atmosphere, make your family celebration unforgettable in a dignified atmosphere, or celebrate your special company event. Of course, we also offer light snacks in our dining room. In the garden and on our terrace, we will spoil you with sophisticated dishes in summer.
