Angiology is the study of blood vessels:
- The arteries, down to the finest branches (capillaries)
- The veins
- The lymph vessels
As an angiologist, I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases and their prevention. The most common diseases are varicose veins, thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, blocked arteries such as in "intermittent claudication," and swelling such as in chronic venous insufficiency or lymphedema.
In addition to a detailed consultation and medical examination, I use the most modern means and methods to diagnose and treat you as a patient as gently as possible.
These methods include:
- Ankle pressure and pulse curve measurement
- Photoplethysmography
- Ultrasound of the blood vessels
- Contrast imaging of arteries or veins
- Balloon catheter therapy with and without stents
- Vein removal with a heat catheter (ClosureFast procedure), or minimally invasive using miniphlebectomy, as well as traditional surgery in collaboration with renowned surgeons
- Vein sclerotherapy
- Modern wound care
Preventive measures include the assessment of individual risk factors for arteriosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries") or venous thrombosis as part of preventive medical checkups.
