With great dedication and enthusiasm, Dr. Lisa Leutenegger and Dr. Roman Januth have been running our friendly, modern, and centrally located dental practice in Biel since 1995.

We offer advanced dentistry for children and adults with a focus on function and aesthetics. Our dental treatment services range from prophylaxis and dental hygiene to school dental care, aesthetic dentistry, implantology, and prosthetics.

We work with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, such as the Cerec procedure and digital X-rays, and in accordance with the hygiene regulations for dental practices. Accordingly, all instruments are machine washed, disinfected, and then sterilized in an autoclave. Amalgam residues in the suction system and extracted teeth are disposed of in a special manner. We donate extracted teeth with gold residues to the Red Cross for recycling.

Thanks to close cooperation with qualified specialists and ongoing training, we can offer you the highest standard of treatment. As our patient, you are always our focus.

To make your visit and dental treatment as relaxed and pleasant as possible, you can watch a film on the ceiling in our treatment rooms. In the waiting room, a DVD provides information on various dental topics.

At our dental practice in the heart of Biel, we offer the entire spectrum of modern dental medicine. We take plenty of time for our patients and explain each step of the treatment to them.

If you have a particularly difficult problem in orthodontics, surgery/implantology, or periodontology (gum disease), we will refer you to a specialist.

For anxious patients, we offer treatment with nitrous oxide or anesthesia. However, treatment under anesthesia is only considered if conventional methods of anxiety relief have not worked.

Dental hygiene & prophylaxis

The most important thing for healthy teeth is good oral hygiene. It is the be-all and end-all. Even the most beautiful/expensive restoration is useless if oral hygiene is not up to standard. Our dental hygienists take care of professional and gentle cleaning of your teeth. They also instruct each patient on tooth cleaning and give nutritional recommendations.

Fillings

Mainly plastic/composite, CAD-CAM ceramics with Cerec 3D®. We have not used amalgam for years.

Crowns/bridges

The dental work is carried out by master dental technician Ursula Puntel. She mainly uses products from Cendres+Métaux and state-of-the-art all-ceramic materials (zirconium oxide, e-max).

Partial and full dentures

We successfully treat edentulous patients with partial and full dentures usin . We use special mini implants to stabilize full dentures . These are ideal when there is little bone remaining. The price-performance ratio is excellent.

Implants

Missing teeth can be replaced with implants. In our practice, we use implants from MDI 3M®, Straumann®, and Camlog®.

Oral surgery

We usually remove wisdom teeth under local anesthesia. For more extensive procedures or at the patient's request, especially in the case of anxious patients, we use nitrous oxide or general anesthesia.

Orthodontics

For children , we mainly offer simple orthodontic treatments. We refer more difficult treatments to specialists. For adults, we can perform aesthetic corrections in the front teeth area. We use Inman Aligner or Clear Aligner for this purpose.

Cosmetic dentistry

As part of our cosmetic dentistry services, we offer teeth whitening treatments, tooth alignment corrections with white fillings, tooth diamond bonding, etc.

School dental care

As a school dentist, we are not only responsible for the city of Biel, but also represent surrounding communities as a dentist .

Special

In many cases, good to very good results can be achieved with simple means. Even teeth with large defects can often be treated with a composite filling (white filling) . Especially in cases where the tooth is still symptom-free, this can avoid the need for complex root canal treatment.

Tax point value for dentists: 1.0
Tax point value for dental hygienists: 0.8

We are aware that the revised tariff makes dental hygiene in particular more expensive. For this reason, we have reduced the tax point value for dental hygiene from 1.0 to 0.8.

Fair play: We offer good dental treatment at an affordable rate: This is only possible thanks to the cooperation of our patients. We have to charge you for missed appointments or appointments canceled at short notice.

Terms and conditions: Payment for treatment is by invoice. We are happy to send this by email. We ask new patients for a deposit. Monthly installment payments are also possible by arrangement. Payment with the following cards is also possible:

Help, I'm afraid

It's good that you're calling it out! This helps you to reduce your fears and allows us to better adapt to your needs. There are various relaxation techniques. If these do not help you, for example in the case of a pronounced gag reflex, we have an excellent aid at our disposal in the form of nitrous oxide.

Ouch, I have toothache

• When brushing your teeth or drinking cold beverages: Don't worry! It's probably just that the neck of the tooth is exposed.
• When biting down: There may be a crack in the tooth crown, the nerve in the tooth root may be inflamed, or the tooth bed may be diseased (periodontitis).
• Since I had a new filling: It is very likely that the new filling is slightly too high. Please contact us if it still bothers you after a week.
• I wake up at night and have to take painkillers because of toothache: Please make an appointment immediately; on Saturdays and Sundays, please contact the emergency service: Tel. 0900 903 903.

Accident

• "My 4-year-old child fell and now has two loose teeth." Don't worry. As long as they are baby teeth, there is no danger. The pain should subside on its own.
• "My 8-year-old boy fell and broke off a piece of his tooth." Please make an appointment with us immediately and report the accident to your insurance company.
• "I am 15 years old and knocked out a whole tooth while playing soccer." Look for the tooth (be sure to only touch the crown!), rinse it under running water or, if possible, put it in your mouth. Alternatively, store it in a glass of milk and come in immediately (!!).
• The information on dental accidents provided on the website of the Center for Dental Medicine at the University of Zurich in the form of the brochure "Dental Accidents" is also very easy to understand. As a general rule, baby teeth require much less treatment, but if it is a permanent tooth, you should contact us immediately!

Brushing

"My gums bleed when I brush my teeth or floss." It's good that you're concerned. Bleeding is a sign of inflammation and simply means that you should spend more time on oral hygiene. After a short time, the bleeding should decrease and eventually stop altogether. If not, please come in for a check-up. It is somewhat more difficult for chain smokers. In this case, the gums and tooth bed may well be inflamed without bleeding. Smoking constricts the blood vessels, which hides the inflammation.

The dentures do not hold/are painful

There is an excellent way to stabilize partial dentures, and lower jaw total dentures in particular, with mini implants. In addition to providing excellent support, there are hardly any pressure points. This is surprisingly easy to do with a minimally invasive procedure, similar to a tooth extraction. The cost-benefit ratio is also very good: the additional cost for four implants with a reduced diameter is less than CHF 2,000. In normal cases, the existing prosthesis can continue to be used. Thanks to their reduced diameter, MDI implants can also be inserted without additional effort even if there is little bone available.
