Domaine du Centaure

Present in Dardagny since the 14th century, the Ramu family cultivated vines long before the Escalade.
Edmond Ramu, one of the family's innovative minds, introduced and applied Guyot wire pruning for the first time in Switzerland in 1925.
The estate also owes its very first rows of Gamay and Pinot Noir to him.
In 1955, Charles Ramu-Caccia, Claude's father, gave the estate its current size and enriched its grape varieties by planting Muscat, Aligoté, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer.

Claude Ramu gave the estate a new look.
In 1982, he named it Domaine du Centaure and had the painter Serge Diakonoff design the labels for his new wines.
And just recently, Julien and Nicolas Ramu joined their father at the helm of the estate.

Their vineyard covers twenty hectares, partly on the famous Donzelle hillside and partly on the slopes overlooking the Château de Dardagny and the Rhône plain.
No fewer than 17 grape varieties are grown on these prestigious lands.
They are harvested and vinified in the spirit of quality of the Ramu family, whose wines have been generously awarded medals and prizes over the generations.
Today, the estate's cellar work combines ancestral know-how with creativity and contemporary technology.
The result is 25 wines: varietal wines, blends, natural or barrel-aged, simple and warm or sophisticated, passerillés or fortified.
