Dialogai

Dialogai was founded in 1982. As a gay association, it aims to be a place for listening, socializing, sharing, meeting, information, welcoming, and advice.

Dialogai works to integrate gay people into society as full citizens. Its work focuses both on gaining recognition for gay people and defending homosexuals who are victims of discrimination or physical or verbal abuse in the workplace, in society, in the family, in their environment, in the legal system, and in all aspects of life.

 

Checkpoint Geneva

Dialogai is also a branch ofSwiss AIDS Aid and, as such, fights against the HIV epidemic through field and prevention activities, as well as against the resurgence of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through two main programs and initiatives: the Checkpoint Geneva testing center and the Santé gaie(Gay Health) project. This rapid testing center allows gay men and men who have sex with men (MSM) to get tested for HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and hepatitis. Checkpoint Geneva also offers vaccinations for hepatitis A and B and PEP, emergency treatment in case of HIV risk. During confidential and anonymous consultations, the tests also provide an opportunity to talk to a healthcare professional who is sensitive to gay sexuality, sexual practices, and risk management, without judgment.

Since 2021, Lestime has also been offering a sexual health hotline for women* at the Checkpoint Geneva premises, in collaboration with Dialogai Geneva.

 

Refuge Geneva

Refuge Genève, founded on March 31, 2015, is part of the Swiss association Dialogai, whose goal is to help young LGBTIQ people.

Refuge Genève is a springboard to independence and self-affirmation. It is open to anyone whose sexual orientation or gender identity, whether real or in question, creates difficulties at school, in society, or within the family.

Le Refuge Genève is also open to friends, family, and support professionals.

 

Community health

The Santé gaie (Gay Health ) project has been running since 2000 within Dialogai. It is a community-based action research project, carried out in collaboration between field workers and researchers, to collect data on the overall health of gay men in the Lake Geneva region, set priorities based on their real needs, and carry out intervention projects to address these needs.

Through various workshops, actions, and community events, the Santé gaie campaign aims to highlight the strength of community ties and the sense of belonging as a resource for health.

 

Community activities

Dialogai's community activities are a great way to break isolation and combat mental health issues by providing spaces for sharing and exchange where healthy activities can take place.

A place to live, a place for resources, a place for exchange, a place to listen, a place for information, a place to share, Dialogai strives, day after day, to be a space for everyone to help them be a little more themselves.

Community activities are diverse and include a choir (Les Genevoix), queer tango, meditation, yoga, and more. You can find more information here.

 

Fighting discrimination and promoting LGBTIQ+ rights

Dialogai is an activist and visibility association. It is a member ofILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association), Pink Cross,Swiss AIDS Aid, EGIDES, the European Federation of Refuge, and the Geneva Federation of LGBT Associations, alongside 360, Lestime, Think Out, and Asile LGBT.

Dialogai is dedicated to fighting discrimination through the Stop Discrimination project, which aims to listen to victims of homophobia, direct them to the most appropriate service, and promote a more just and equal society through training for professionals on LGBTIQ+ issues.
