Ernst Fitze started his own business back in 1925. Initially, he repaired electrical appliances and built small fans for toilet exhaust air. Later, he added chimney fans to compensate for the lack of natural draft in many chimneys.
In 1946, his son (also named Ernst Fitze), who had also trained as an electrical engineer (electrical machine builder), founded his own company in Chur. Initially, the company repaired electric motors and electrical appliances. However, the production of chimney fans, which his father had already been manufacturing, was soon added to the company's range as a separate product. The motors for these chimney fans were developed and manufactured in-house in the company's own electromechanical workshop and winding shop. At that time, therefore, production was 100% in-house.
After his father's death, his brother Max took over the business in St. Gallen.
When the business was handed over to the second (actually third) generation in 1984 to his son Samuel, the existing chimney fans were further developed and supplemented with new flue gas fans in line with market requirements. Today, various models with different performance levels are available for different areas of application and installation options.
In 1996, the sole proprietorship (Samuel Fitze) was converted into a stock corporation (Fitze Chur AG).
In 1998, the first website was launched.
In 2006, exactly 60 years after the company was founded, new factory buildings were moved into in Untervaz. This marked the end of a 55-year era on Steinbruchstrasse in the old town of Chur.
The new location not only offered more space, but also had everything on one level, which greatly simplified production processes and handling.
In 2006, the company name was changed from Fitze Chur AG to FITZE VENTILATOREN AG.
2017: I (Samuel Fitze) am in the fortunate position of already being able to put my succession plan in place. I have been working closely with Matthias Aebersold from Ventinox GmbH, St. Gallen, for two and a half years, and the decision to merge or take over was only a logical consequence. Ventinox GmbH was formed from Kurt Fitze, Kaminventilatoren, St. Gallen. This means that a family business has been reunited after more than 70 years.
The company was renamed FITZE VENTINOX AG in 2017 and relocated its headquarters to Jegenstorf BE.
Today, FITZE VENTINOX AG supplies high-quality flue gas fans and smoke extractors far beyond the country's borders, which are reliably serving thousands of systems.
January 2025 – After 45 years of service, Samuel Fitze definitively hands over the management and leadership of the company to Matthias and Ralf Aebersold and enters his well-deserved retirement.
1925–2025 also marks 100 years of company history.
