On April 1, 1980, Fridolin Kalt, Meinrad Knecht, and Armin Sutter founded the company Kalt + Knecht + Sutter AG.

The workshop and storage rooms were located at Leuggernstrasse 91 in Leibstadt and were already equipped with modern machinery for their time. After only two years, the young company suffered the tragic loss of Fridolin Kalt in a fatal traffic accident. The company name was then changed to Knecht + Sutter AG.

After several years of hard work, however, the workshop and storage rooms on Leuggernstrasse were bursting at the seams.

An intensive search was conducted for a larger property, which was then found on Bahnhofstrasse in the former Wegrotex building. The company continued to develop at this location for around ten years.
In order to enable the company to continue in the future, plans for a new building had been under consideration for some time.

In 2005, these plans were put into action and construction began on the new building on Krummackerweg. After just over a year, the company was able to move into the modern premises in October 2006. In order to continue to exploit the potential of these premises in the future, the sons of the two company founders were brought into the management team as partners in 2008.
