All treatments, whether conservative, prosthetic, or implant prosthetic, are part of a more general approach that aims to restore proper occlusion (dental relationships).

Malocclusion causes various problems, some more serious than others, depending on the condition:
- pain in the temporomandibular joint, both spontaneous and during opening and closing of the mouth, with difficulty chewing
- joint noises during chewing
- pain in the masticatory muscles
- phonation and/or swallowing disorders
- bruxism and tooth wear
- clenching and grinding of the teeth
Malocclusion can be the main factor in certain disorders or pathologies that appear to be unrelated to mastication.

It is also possible to evaluate these issues in greater depth with specific tests such as surface electromyography, Tekscan, and baropodometric platform. In addition, the practice offers integrated therapies with osteopaths and/or physical therapists.
Some conditions can be treated without bite guards, while others require the use of so-called bite guards (a non-specific term). There must be an appropriate device for each condition.
