In 1970, Vincenzo Colciaghi opened the shop "La cornice" in Lugano, at Via alla Stazione 18 (now Salita Chiattone), where, with the help of his wife Ida, he carried out the following activities:

 

• Framing paintings, prints, mirrors, etc.
• Restoration of frames, shelves, candlesticks, and other objects or sculptures in gilded wood.
• Restoration of paintings.
• Sale of fine art items.

 

In 1977, "La cornice" moved to its current location at Via A. Giacometti 1 in Lugano, and in the same year, his son Fabrizio joined the company as an apprentice framer. After obtaining the relevant diploma and acquiring the necessary experience, Fabrizio Colciaghi took over the management of the shop.

In June 1997, the above activities were joined by the opening of the "il raggio" exhibition space inside the shop.

 

In 2001, the company name changed from "La cornice di Vincenzo Colciaghi" to "La cornice SA."

 

On July 1, 2005, Silvio Di Renzo joined the "La cornice" team, also as a framer, immediately proving himself to be a valuable and trusted collaborator.

On January 1, 2019, the "il raggio" gallery ceased operations and ended its collaboration with Mr. Domingo Sampietro, whom we thank for his valuable work over the past 21 years.

On February 26, 2019, an exhibition dedicated to the Milanese painter Claudio Granaroli, who lives in Bergamo, marked the launch of "LA CORNICE spazio espositivo" (LA CORNICE exhibition space) at the same location inside the "La Cornice" store.
