Dr. Jan Huismans, FMH specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, takes the time to listen to you and find a solution to your musculoskeletal problem. Have you injured yourself while playing sports? He can also see you at his office and at the hospitals where he practices, as he also specializes in sports medicine.
What is most important to Dr. Jan Huismans is that his patients trust him and feel comfortable when they come to him. He takes the time to listen and analyze the situation in order to find the best possible treatments or solutions.
Over the years, he has specialized in the treatment of large joints, including the knee, whether the cause is degenerative or traumatic.
His 25 years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon and in musculoskeletal traumatology also enable him to determine whether or not surgery is necessary.
Knee surgery
The surgical procedures performed are minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery (meniscus, cartilage, and anterior cruciate ligament) and osteoarthritis surgery (osteotomy, partial or total prosthesis).
Hip surgery
This concerns people with disorders or conditions affecting the hip and pelvis, which may be congenital, degenerative, or traumatic in origin. After consultation, if no other treatment has worked or if no other solution is possible, arthroplasty (prosthesis) offers surprising and lasting results.
Shoulder surgery
There are different types of surgery for the shoulders.
Dr. Huismans performs arthroscopic surgery. As its name suggests, this is a minimally invasive surgical method used to diagnose and treat a number of diseases and injuries affecting the joints. Some conditions can only be treated or respond better to open surgery.
He performs muscle surgery (e.g., rotator cuff tears),ligament surgery (e.g., shoulder instability and dislocations), and degenerative joint disorders (osteoarthritis) that may require total joint replacement (anatomical or reverse).
Foot surgery
Dr. Huismans mainly treats people with forefoot disorders, the vast majority of which are deviations of the big toe outward (hallux valgus or bunion) with or without osteotomy of the first metatarsal.
