Welcome to Chutz
In July 1963, artist Ferdinand Kaus opened the Chutz restaurant on Landhausquai in Solothurn. The building, with its exposed concrete and staircase with concrete railings, caused quite a stir among the people of Solothurn in the 1960s – its modern architecture and ambience remain unique to this day.
With regular exhibitions, jazz concerts, and the beginnings of the Solothurn Film Festival, the Chutz restaurant soon became an institution and a trendy venue.
The terrace on the sunny side invites guests to linger and is also a popular meeting place.
Today, the restaurant is run by Marta Kaus. Thanks to Marta, the legacy of her husband Ferdinand, who died in 1996, is being carried on in his spirit. With her trusted team, she is the soul of Chutz and cooks homemade specialties for her guests.
Locals and visitors, families and a loyal regular clientele: visitors appreciate the special and unique atmosphere. Not to be forgotten are jazz lovers, who get their money's worth at the Sunday matinees.
