Periodic inspection
For existing electrical installations, the safety and functionality of the components must be checked at intervals specified by law.

Some examples of inspection cycles are:
Residential buildings (single-family/multi-family homes) after 20 years
(Smaller) retail stores and office buildings after 10 years
Department stores, industrial buildings after 5 years
Vehicle workshops after 3 years
Construction sites and markets annually

Inspection upon change of ownership
As with the periodic inspection, the electrical installation is checked. The inspection upon change of ownership is carried out if the last periodic inspection was more than 5 years ago.

Acceptance inspection
After installation in commercial and industrial buildings, an acceptance inspection must be carried out within 6 months of the final inspection (the inspection carried out by the electrician upon completion of the work). This must be carried out by an independent inspector.

The owner is responsible for having the inspection carried out.
