Schlebach AG is a traditional drum manufacturer that has been based in upper Kleinbasel since its foundation in 1977. It builds Basel drums and rope drums for all regions. Made of aluminum, brass, or wood, with diameters ranging from 36 cm to 43 cm. Customers are guaranteed excellent sound, the highest quality, the shortest delivery times, absolute reliability, and punctuality, whether for a single piece or a large series.
Genuine Basel craftsmanship, of course. Because we only offer drums that we build ourselves in our workshop. These are metal or wooden drums with diameters ranging from 36 cm to 43 cm, with 41 cm and 12 straps being standard.
- Metal drums, silver or gold
- Beech drums, stained
- Drums made of various woods, natural finish
- Painted wooden drums
- Family crests
- Open category
- Carbon drums
- Large drums
Metal drums, silver or gold (yellow)
Chrome-plated or gold-plated aluminum is used for metal drums. However, we also carry polished brass (yellow) or chrome-plated brass in our range. But since aluminum drums are significantly lighter than brass drums while offering the same stability, they are the future.
Beech drums, stained
The fame of wooden drums is truly everlasting. By staining the surface, either the natural structure of the wood can be emphasized, or the wood can be colored in every conceivable shade. Whether classic or unusual, your options are unlimited.
Drums made of various woods, left natural
To offer you even more design options, we also enjoy working with other woods in addition to beech, which we usually leave in their natural color. Whether exclusive bird's-eye maple, ultra-light poplar, walnut or cherry wood, ash, or oak: Schlebach has them all in its range.
Wooden drums, painted
Wooden drums painted by our artists give your instrument a very personal touch, often decorated with your own (club) logo or group insignia. We are also happy to produce detailed reproductions of former classics. They are also a pleasure to listen to, with their naturally soft sound.
Family crests
Whether for an anniversary, a milestone birthday, a confirmation, or simply for the joy of playing the instrument: we are happy to paint your drum with your family crest according to heraldic specifications. We are particularly proud of No. 120, which is adorned with the personal coat of arms of Benedict XVI. This motif was painted with real gold and silver paint.
Large drums
We manufacture our large drums in the same way as our wooden drums. This means:
same quality, same precision, same materials. So even with the big brother of the Basel drum, you can choose from a variety of woods and colors to suit your individual taste. The standard diameter is 26 inches.
Drum major batons – handmade in our workshop
The drum major leads his formation with the TM baton. In addition to setting the tempo, he can use it to turn his corps in all directions and send a variety of signals. The length of the baton to be chosen depends, of course, primarily on the height of the drum major. However, the size of the formation to be led also influences the choice of baton length, as the signals must be visible to the back row. We believe that the baton should match your uniform and instruments in terms of design and color. Club or cantonal colors, etc. can also be incorporated into the design. Simply download the PDF and choose from our wide range of components and place your order.
Our trademark: service.
Feel free to set your expectations high. We repair and tune drums from all manufacturers. We believe this is part of our customer service. And we don't limit this service to Basel, let alone to the carnival season; we are always on hand to provide first aid for your instrument. True drum enthusiasts know that prevention is better than cure – but it's worth reminding them, because the next festival or "Ständeli" is as certain as the next carnival!
Very common: second-hand and mint-condition display models
Of course, even we can't build new drums from old kettles, but often it takes very little to restore a "dusty" instrument to its former glory. That's why we are happy to buy your used drum, provided we can repair it. Freshly retensioned, it will then end up here: on our website. So it's worth checking back often! Or come by the store if you're hunting for a bargain; many old drums don't stay here long.
We regularly build top-quality instruments for display in our store, at drum festivals, at trade fairs, or simply as prototypes. We offer these at reduced prices here.
