Services
Surgery in the practice
Minor procedures can be performed in the practice. For example, removal of skin lesions or atheromas and lipomas; wound care, treatment of ingrown toenails (unguis incarnatus), incisions for infections, re-excisions for skin tumors, etc., naturally under local anesthesia.
Disruptive surgery
In special cases and at the request of family doctors or nursing home doctors, I also perform outpatient operations in retirement and nursing homes.
Major procedures
These are performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis at the hospital. If a hospital stay is necessary, I am pleased to be able to offer you the Salem Hospital. This hospital offers excellent quality in both the hospital area and the state-of-the-art technical infrastructure in the operating room.
Focus of my work
Wound treatment
Through membership of the Swiss Working Group for Wound Treatment (SAfW) and collaboration with wound experts, we strive to provide optimal conservative wound therapy. I currently also use low-pressure and cold plasma therapy.
Wound surgery
This basically refers to the surgical treatment of wounds and infections. For superficial wounds, debridement (wound cleaning) is often sufficient.
Surgical treatment of diabetic foot, amputation and stump surgery
20% of all diabetics experience foot problems at some point. Of these problems, around 20% require surgery. The possible effects of diabetes mellitus on the foot range from sensory disturbances to loss of pain sensation and circulatory disorders.
Thanks to many years of collaboration with Prof. R. Baumgartner ( † 2018 ), I try to implement and continue his experience. I have the opportunity to treat all stages of diabetic foot, including osteoarthropathy, in collaboration with other specialists.
This often involves removing diseased bone in order to preserve the rest of the foot and thus the length of the leg. If amputation is necessary, it is carried out on an individual basis, according to the principle of maximum limb preservation and optimal technical orthopedic care, in order to achieve independent mobility as quickly as possible.
Interdisciplinary cooperation is a prerequisite for success. In recent years, we have been able to establish such a network.
It consists of:
- Diabetologists
- Angiologists and vascular surgeons
- Technical orthopedists
- Surgeons/orthopedists
