The grapes are pressed and vinified at the company's premises, located right in the heart of the wine village of Salgesch. The fine Valais wine specialities can be tasted and purchased directly from the winery in its traditional cellar with wooden barrels.

A family tradition
In 1950, Franz-Josef Mathier began pressing grapes. In 1974, the business was converted into a family corporation, and in 1992, his son André Mathier-Gsponer took over the management. True to the family tradition, his daughter Felizitas Mathier Benicchio, a certified winemaker, has been running the business since 2006. She was the first woman in Switzerland to train as a wine technologist with a federal master's diploma and is fully committed to the philosophy of "close to nature – personal – authentic."

Close to nature – Natural viticulture, which has always been practiced here. Pioneering work 40 years ago in the greening of vineyards in Valais, today a business that practices integrated production and cultivates the "vineyard" ecosystem holistically and sustainably – in harmony with nature for nature.

Personal – Since the beginning, personal contact with customers has been a priority. With select and limited local grapes, lovers of the typical and unique Valais wine are catered for.

A family tradition
Franz-Josef Mathier began pressing his own grapes and others purchased in 1950. The business was transformed into a public limited company in 1974. His son André Mathier-Gsponer took sole charge of the company in 1992. True to the family tradition, his daughter Felizitas Mathier Benicchio, a qualified winegrower, has been running the company since 2006. She was also the first woman in Switzerland to obtain a federal master's degree in wine cellaring and is fully committed to the philosophy of "Close to nature – Personal – Authentic."
